Overview
Mount Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano in Tanzania, features three cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. It stands as Africa's highest mountain and the tallest free-standing mountain globally, at 5,895 meters above sea level. It's also the highest volcano in Africa and the Eastern Hemisphere. Kilimanjaro ranks as the fourth most topographically prominent peak on Earth. Located in Kilimanjaro National Park, it is a popular hiking and climbing destination. Its glaciers and ice fields are rapidly shrinking and may vanish by 2035, prompting numerous scientific studies.
